Kris Laats, one of the most improved players in the league and the overall #1 seed, fought his way to his first Golden Ball Championship. Kris outlasted Rahber Thariani 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-4) in what turned out to be quite an epic Championship match! Rahber won the Qualifying Tournament and finished as a strong runner up. Varun Verma beat Will Millar for a solid third place finish.

2016 brought 2 new competitions for select individuals within the league: A very short and limited doubles season and a 40’s and over singles tournament. Boyd Massie and Tom Townsend teamed up to beat the Popovic brothers (Jovan & Zoran) and the team of Kris Laats and Rony Salem during the regular season. But Kris and Rony exacted revenge in a “winner-takes-all” match to capture the doubles crown. That makes Kris a singles and doubles champion! Tom Townsend was victorious as he claimed the 40’s and over singles tournament.

The Mini Tournament at Green Lake was a huge success! There were quite a few players that showed up and some great competition played through the format of condensed sets. Congratulations to Kevin (Tri) Nguyen on winning the tourney and walking away with some crucial extra points toward the standings.
